"Nothing Tastes as Good as Skinny Feels"

Yes, everyone's favourite role model, Kate Moss, has once again caused controversy, this time by declaring one of her life mottos: "Nothing tastes as good as skinny feels".
According to critics, Kate's borrowed Weight Watchers saying is going to be responsible for thousands of impressionable teenagers sticking their fingers back their throat after every meal.
On the one hand, I admire her honesty. But the thing that annoys me is the implication that Kate Moss, one of the most influential people in fashion, thinks it is cool to be starving hungry. Great.
It's not cool to be starving hungry, it's boring. Have you ever been out for dinner with someone obsessed with their weight? They either order a salad with no dressing (don't PAY for a salad! I'll let you run around in my back garden eating as much foliage as you like for free), or they'll order something really naughty, take one bite of it and then proclaim that they are "full" and spend the rest of the meal talking about how much fat they can feel coursing through their veins, and how they had better do an extra workout tomorrow to make up for the lapse in their willpower. At this point, if you haven't turned bulimic yourself after the guilt you now feel for not feeling guilty about ordering a burger, I would suggest it is a good time to ask them if they've finished with theirs and scoop up the leftovers for yourself. If it wasn't a salad, obviously.
Of course I have my moments when I would love to be thin, but I would much rather be curvy and happy than miserable trying to make myself something that I am not.
So especially for Kate Moss, who I'm sure is an avid reader, I have taken the time to list just a few things that not only taste as good as skinny feels, they taste BETTER:
  • Lasagne
  • Sausage & Mash*
  • Sainsbury's Taste The Difference Quadruple Belgian Chocolate Cookies
  • Pizza (any)
  • Chips from the Chip Stop
  • The chocolate roulade cake my sister made last week (being on maternity leave suits you, Hazel!)
  • My mum's roast dinners
  • Steak & Chips
  • Cadbury's Chocolate
  • Steak & Ale Pie & Mash*
  • Chocolate Lover's Cream Tea from Choccocino on the Barbican
  • Spaghetti Bolognaise
  • Egg Sandwiches from a buffet (you never want them enough to make them yourself but they're the first to go from the buffet table)
  • Pancakes with sugar and lemon juice
* For added feel-good factor, plain mash can be substituted for cheesy mash. But NEVER Smash.
If you are that desperate to look like a pre-pubescent boy, then that's your business, but please do it quietly because you are taking the enjoyment out of food for the rest of us.

  2. Does Kate Moss starve herself to be thin ? Does eating the list on your blog make you happy beyond the second when it's in your mouth ? I think its a great quote and has motivated me at the gym, to do more sport and to stop eating crap foods. I don't have a problem with my weight and I don't have a problem with Kate's motto..in fact good on her. Secretly, difficult to admit..we all know she's right :) Right off to steam some carrots
